Describing Your Home
Our home is our sanctuary. Being able to describe where you live—whether it's an "apartment," a "studio," or a "detached house"—is fundamental.
Rooms and Furniture Beyond just "kitchen" and "bedroom," specifics matter. Do you have a "balcony"? Is there a "basement"? Describing your furniture like the "sofa," "wardrobe," or "bookshelf" helps paint a picture. "My apartment is small but cozy" is a common way to describe a modest living space positively.
Renting vs. Owning The vocabulary changes if you are a tenant or an owner. Tenants pay "rent" to a "landlord" and sign a "lease." Owners pay a "mortgage" to the bank. Dealing with "utilities" (water, electricity, gas) is a shared reality for everyone.
Location, Location, Location Where is your home? Is it "downtown," in the "suburbs," or in a "rural area"? Describing your neighborhood—"it's quiet," "it's lively," "it's convenient"—tells people about your lifestyle preferences.
