Lifelong Learning
Education systems vary, but the language of learning is universal. From "kindergarten" to "PhD," we spend our lives in institutions of learning.
Degrees and Qualifications "Bachelor's Degree," "Master's," "Diploma," "Certificate." When applying for jobs, knowing how to translate your qualifications into English is vital. "I majored in Engineering" or "I minored in Art History."
Classroom Vocabulary "Lecture," "seminar," "tutorial," "assignment," "exam," "thesis." University life has its own rhythm. The "professor" gives the lecture, but the "tutor" might help you with the details.
Self-Education "I'm self-taught." "I took an online course." "I watched a tutorial." In the information age, formal education is just one path. Being an "autodidact" (someone who teaches themselves) is increasingly respected.
