The Psychology of Spending

Why did you buy that? Was it need, or was it emotion? Marketers study our brains to trigger purchases.

Scarcity and FOMO "Only 2 left!" "Sale ends tonight!" This creates urgency. We fear missing out (FOMO). We buy without thinking.

Social Proof "5,000 people bought this." We crave safety in numbers. If others like it, it must be good. Reviews are the new word-of-mouth.

Brand Loyalty Some people only buy Apple. They are "Loyal." It is part of their identity. Breaking this loyalty is the hardest thing for a competitor to do.
