Civilized Conflict

Debate is the crucible of truth. It is not a fight; it is a sport. The goal is not to hurt the opponent, but to dismantle their idea.

The Rebuttal "I hear what you are saying, but..." You must acknowledge the opponent's point before destroying it. This is respectful and effective. Then, provide your "Counter-argument."

Fallacies Avoid bad logic. "Ad Hominem" (attacking the person, not the idea). "Straw Man" (creating a fake, weak version of their argument). "Slippery Slope" (if we do A, then Z will happen!). Spotting these helps you win.

Playing Devil's Advocate Argue for the side you hate. It sharpens your mind. It forces you to understand the complexity of the issue.
