Dying for a T-Shirt 👕
The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world. 'Fast Fashion' brands (Zara, Shein, H&M) churn out new cheap styles every week. This encourages a 'Throwaway Culture'.
The environmental cost is huge: cotton requires massive water, dyeing textiles poisons rivers with chemicals, and synthetic fabrics (polyester) shed microplastics.
Socially, clothes are made in 'Sweatshops' in developing nations where workers face unsafe conditions and poverty wages. The movement for 'Sustainable Fashion' advocates buying less, buying second-hand ('Thrifting'), and choosing natural fibers.
