What is a Noun? 🍎

A Noun is a naming word. It names a person (Teacher), a place (Paris), a thing (Table), or an idea (Freedom).

Types of Nouns

  • Common Nouns: General names (city, dog, car).
  • Proper Nouns: Specific names (London, Fido, Tesla). Always capitalized!
  • Concrete Nouns: Things you can touch (apple, water).
  • Abstract Nouns: Ideas or feelings (love, happiness).

Making it Plural

  • Usually, add -s (Cat -> Cats).
  • If it ends in -s, -x, -ch, -sh, add -es (Bus -> Buses, Box -> Boxes).
  • Consonant + y -> change y to -ies (Baby -> Babies).
  • Irregular: Man -> Men, Child -> Children.
