Finished vs Connected ⚔️

This is the #1 mistake for learners.

  • Past Simple: FINISHED time. (Yesterday, Last year, When I was young).
    • "I went to Paris in 2010." (It is over, 2010 is gone).
  • Present Perfect: UNFINISHED time or Life Experience (Time not important).
    • "I have been to Paris." (In my life up to now).

Rule: If you say WHEN (Yesterday, 1999), you MUST use Past Simple.
