We know A/An/The basics. Here are the tough rules.

Countries: No 'The' (France, China). EXCEPT plural/united names (The USA, The UK, The Netherlands).
Rivers/Oceans: Use 'The' (The Nile, The Pacific). LAKES do not (Lake Superior).
Mountains: 'The' for ranges (The Alps). No 'The' for one mountain (Everest).
Abstract: No 'The' for ideas (Love is blind).
