Prompt: The graph shows the number of tourists visiting a particular Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017.
Sample Answer (Band 9): The line graph illustrates the number of visitors to a specific Caribbean island over a seven-year period from 2010 to 2017. Overall, there was a significant upward trend in tourism, despite some fluctuations in the middle of the period.
In 2010, the island received approximately 1 million visitors. This figure rose steadily to reach a peak of 2.5 million in 2012. However, the following year saw a sharp decline, with numbers falling back to 1.5 million in 2013.
From 2014 onwards, tourism recovered remarkably. Visitor numbers surged to 3 million by 2015 and continued to climb gradually, ending the period at an all-time high of 3.5 million in 2017. This represents a more than three-fold increase compared to the start of the period.
