Mixed Charts 📉🥧
Sometimes you get a Bar Chart AND a Pie Chart. Do not panic.
Strategy
- Overview matches relationships: Does the Pie Chart explain the Bar Chart?
- Separate Paragraphs: Describe Chart A in one paragraph, Chart B in another.
- Synthesis: Use the conclusion or overview to link them. "Overall, while sales increased (Chart A), the market share shifted (Chart B)."
Sample: Climate & Agriculture
Prompt: Line graph of Temperature + Table of Crop Yields.
Sample Excerpt: The line graph shows temperatures rising steadily from 20°C to 25°C. Correspondingly, the table reveals that wheat production declined by 20% in the same period, suggesting a negative correlation between heat and wheat harvest.
Discussion
- How do you structure a mixed chart essay?
- Should you mix data from both charts in every sentence?
