Pie Charts & Proportions 🥧

Pie charts show how a whole is divided into parts. You must use percentages and fractions.

Language of Proportion

  • Percents: 10%, 50%, one-third, three-quarters.
  • Qualifiers: Just over, slightly under, exactly, roughly.
  • Verbs: Comprise, constitute, make up, account for.

Sample: Browser Usage

Prompt: The charts compare browser usage in 2010 vs 2020.

Sample Answer Excerpt: In 2010, Internet Explorer dominated the market, accounting for nearly 60% of users. Chrome, conversely, represented a mere 10%. By 2020, the landscape changed dramatically; Chrome comprised over half the market (55%), while Explorer's share had shrunk to a negligible 2%.
