Task 2 Overview 📝

Task 2 is an essay worth 2/3 of your writing score. You have ~40 minutes.

The Golden Rules

  1. Understand the Prompt: Identify the type (Opinion vs Discussion).
  2. Plan: Spend 5-10 minutes planning. A bad plan = a bad essay.
  3. Structure: 4 Paragraphs (Intro, Body 1, Body 2, Conclusion).
  4. Tone: Formal and academic.

Sample Structure

  • Intro: Paraphrase Question + Thesis Statement.
  • Body 1: Topic Sentence + Explanation + Example.
  • Body 2: Topic Sentence + Explanation + Example.
  • Conclusion: Restate Thesis + Summary.
